Flares 05:18
Help is on the way Relief is in sight For every angel that died here We’ll bring in a new life And every colour in the darkness Will shimmer in the sunlight We’re gonna be alright No more Chasing wayward spirits And no more Shooting flares in the middle of the night Down here, down here We’ve been waiting We’ve been waiting For you In the grip of fear Tight and shaking We’ve been waiting For you Help is on the way The bells of freedom are chiming Thank god, this place has been driving Me out of my mind I’m so ready for sleep now Cause I’ve been Kept awake for days and days and days and days With no relent, no relief, no release And I’m tired So tired Rejoice The feeling’s gone No more Shooting flares in the middle of the night No more

The world to you is just a grocery store With long lines of people through the doors. Well if anyone asks You can tell them I’ve taken off And if anyone asks You can tell them I woke up and left Before it got to my head You’ve got a language of lies I don’t ever want to understand I’m not a parasite I won’t be a parasite I’m not a parasite Don’t go nowhere without your life support Pink chubby fingers scrape for more Well if anyone asks You can tell them I’ve taken off And if anyone asks You can tell them I got tired of the shit And made a run for it Just roam the aisles, the stink of greed will make you sick We’re at a breaking point This is the breaking point We’re at the breaking point I’m a nervous wreck And I’m frightened by other people I’m frightened by the other people And your grocery store I’m a nervous wreck And I’m frightened by other people I’m frightened by the other people In your grocery store

The Florist 05:49
In a small town on a quiet main street There is a flower shop owned and operated by a florist. In the summer he sets up displays on the sidewalk And sits out there on a wooden beach chair. Many locals pass by and they stop and they talk To the florist and admire his flowers. When it’s slow and there’s no one around he sits And he reads a story or a book for flower-growers. At the end of the day, he goes home alone He’s pretty lonely, but not too much, And when he gets home, he’s got a garden of his own To take care of for an hour or two. And in the evening when he’s done all his work He sometimes has a few But never too much, and he’s done all his work And he usually feels pretty good. The flowers, he loves them They are his peace and his patience. In the winter he sets up displays in the shop And his customers feel good coming in Cause it’s cold in the street and the florist has heated The shop so the flowers can grow. It’s dark in the winter, and Valentine’s Day Is the second-best-selling day of the year Next to Mothers’ Day, the other day that flowers sell best And the florist works hardest those days. If he had a love, imagine the bouquet He would prepare with care. But the florist, he has no significant other And no mother for that matter either. So gently he settles for arranging the petals For lovers and mothers of others And on long winter evenings, waters potted green things And sits down with something to drink. The flowers, he loves them They are his peace and his patience. Year in and year out, he lives day by day in this way And he’s always ok. For the flowers, the florist provides all that they need For the florist, the flowers give peace. He knows, of course, a flower is not a friend But the flowers are like friendship for him And he knows, of course, a flower is not a child But the flowers, for him, are children. He takes care of them And they take care of him. The flowers, he loves them They are his peace and his patience.

Where I am now, it’s quiet and empty Beauty rushes and floods all around The stars shine so bright here And I feel so light It’s frighteningly true Because the closest worlds Are so far away Oh it’s cold, It’s cold in space.

Trying to climb back on the train while missing you It’s a long long way to go now, missing you I know, it’s all good. It’s true, it’s all good. These feet pull and tug and tickle All roads lead away from home Each day is one drop in the bucket Some days the water overflows Trying to climb back on the train while missing you It’s a long long way to go now, missing you I’ve got a new life on my mind now, missing you It’s a long long way from home now, missing you I know, it’s all good. It’s true, it’s all good. These feet pull and tug and tickle All roads lead away from home Each day is one drop in the bucket Some days the water overflows

about

Pinks is a small selection of songs I wrote during the years of 2008 to 2015. Of the dozens of songs I wrote during that time, these stand out to me the most. They express parts of my experience that usually stay quiet and tucked away. They are my pinks.

Words and music by Paul Reginato
Recorded by Mack Jordan at Locust Ridge in New Hamburg, Ontario
Mixed and mastered by Tristan Henderson

Special thanks to Mack Jordan for working long and attentively to get the best out of me and then record it. During the roughly 24 hours I spent with Mack at Locust Ridge, I aged about three years, and I think he got about three days younger. He's a special angel that way.

Special thanks also to Tristan Henderson, who did an above-and-beyond job mixing and mastering the recordings with superb attention to detail to get them sounding as good as they could.

I would like to thank the many people who encouraged me and my music over the years. Your support and interest in my music made a big difference to me.
